PHIL BOWKER

Phil

Phil started out as a Commercial Producer for Radio City in Liverpool at the age of nineteen. Before long he was copywriting, producing and voicing award winning radio ads by day and performing stand up with the likes of Jack Dee, Al Murray and Stewart Lee by night. In 1993, he was accepted as a trainee into the prestigious BBC Radio Light Entertainment Department (which was responsible for launching the producing and directing careers of John Lloyd, Aarmando Ianucci, Harry Thompson and Geoffrey Perkins) – where he produced and directed everyone from Harry Hill to Timothy West via Roy Hudd and Peter Serafinowicz.

Phil moved to TV in 1997, giving Ricky Gervais his first TV writing and acting roles (the pair remain good friends today with Gervais acting as script editor on the pilot episode of PhoneShop)

Phil has worked as a Creative Producer ever since, alongside the likes of Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse, Peep Show creators, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong and earned Bafta nominations for Sean Lock's '15 Storey's High' and Sharon Horgan and Dennis Kelly's 'Pulling'. He started directing for television in 2009 when he created, wrote, produced and directed the award winning and critically lauded 'PhoneShop' for E4 and Channel 4. He is currently finishing editing its second season for transmission in November 2011. Phil is keen to return to his advertising roots – and comes armed with a wealth of comedy experience.
